सिर सलामत तो पगडी पचास!
At Walnut, sports are taken as seriously as academics. This is reflected in the timetable – every student has a full sports period every day, right from Std. 1 to Std. 10 – and in the infrastructure we have created. With all-weather covered grounds, sport periods continue on all days of the year.

Why Sports Matter?

Why Sports Matter?

Sports are not just for fitness. They shape personality and character too.
At Walnut, students learn:

  • Fitness & stamina for a healthy body.
  • Teamwork & discipline by playing together.
  • Winning & losing gracefully with good sportsmanship.
  • Quick decision-making & resilience under pressure.
  • Confidence & focus that carry over into academics.

Exposure to Many Sports

Walnut School

We believe that sports are a vital part of achieving our target of becoming tough outside, smart inside. So in the early years, every student gets training for multiple sports over the years, including : Yoga, Aerobics, Dodgeball, Langadi, Kho Kho, Kabaddi, Throwball, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Skating, Athletic training, and Circuit training. This broad exposure ensures every child discovers a game they enjoy.

Walnut students get a unique edge later on in their life because of exposure to so many sports. Their posture is better, confidence increases and they can connect better with peers by playing any sport.

Internal Competitions

Walnut School

Sports are for everyone at Walnut. We organize many internal competitions where all students are encouraged to take part – regardless of their proficiency.

Primary (Std. 1 to 5) :
Students participate in a variety of individual races on Electric Saturday mornings. Parents are invited to watch and children also perform demonstrations of skills for them.

Secondary (Std. 6-10 onwards) :
Students move into team games, grouped house-wise for leagues in Basketball, Throwball, Volleyball, Kho Kho, Kabaddi and Football, along with athletic races.

Sports days and competitions are lively, inclusive events where every child participates.

School Teams and Individual Athletes

School Teams and Individual Athletes

From secondary school onwards, students also represent Walnut in team and individual sports. Walnut has school teams that compete in CBSE, district and state-level tournaments. We conduct trials to select players, who then practice before/after school and on Saturdays or holidays.

Our teams regularly participate in several competitions and have won quite a number of awards as well.
